The college Urstein is situated inside the historic walls of the castle Urstein
which was built in 1691. After having been carefully renovated the college
Urstein now offers seminars, lectures and trainings since the summer of 2005.
The Akademie Schloss Urstein Privatstiftung – so the full name – was
brought to life by Salzburg’s Chamber of Commerce in order to bring adult
education up to a university level. The manifold programme of the college offers
symposia, conferences and seminars in the fields of free-time, tourism, culture,
sports and related areas.
This emphasis not only results from the economic strengths of the province Salzburg but also from the importance attached to these fields of life in future. The holistic approach of the college Urstein ensures that even besides the studies there is always a varied and exciting programme on offer.
Besides the continuous activities and lectures it was also possible to establish a summer college. At the charming venue of the castle Urstein in Puch near Salzburg international experts and practitioners exchange their ideas.
Additionally to further education the college Urstein is also active in research. As members of the company Research Urstein GmbH future scenarios in tourism and free-time economy are the focus of scientific arguments. The research company is also a part of an extensive research network with well-known people and institutions of German speaking countries. The exchange with such experts is requested not only by the College Urstein but also by the Research Urstein GmbH.
The programme of the College Urstein is rounded off with numerous cultural events under the name “Kulturstein“.
The Fachhochschule Urstein Salzburg is only a few minutes by car away from the Gasthaus zum Kirchenwirt. When the weather is nice it is especially pleasurable to go to seminars and lectures at the Salzburger Fachhochschule Urstein with the bicycle. The well sign-posted cycle tracks lead you through the landscape conservation area of the Salzachauen (meadows along the river Salzach).
